ANNETTE MARGULIES, Fine Artist
Whether it is a separation from your loved ones, nature’s unforeseen wrath, or the constant changes surrounding us, our responses to these events affect us in the most unexpected ways. In experiencing these events—particularly in our attempts to influence and control them--one finds passion, dreams, joy, anger, disappointment and sorrow. Expressing these emotions on canvas is irresistible to me—it’s why I paint. As Georgia O’Keefe said: “I found I could say things with colors that I couldn’t say in any other way, things that I had no words for”. This statement resonates with me. Music and Nature’s beauty also have a profound influence on my paintings. As I paint, memories and emotions are revealed, transformed into shapes, colors, marks and lines. Even though the result is an intense personal journey, the viewer is encouraged to react to, interpret, and experience what is on the canvas in his or her own way. I love the challenge, freedom and spontaneity of abstract painting--even as countless decisions are rapidly made about composition rules, colors and values. I feel very fortunate to be pursuing my passion as a professional artist after many years in the corporate world as a software engineer.
Some of the highlights this past winter were to be included in the prestigious annual international exhibits ‘Art Palm Beach in Januray 2018 , and ‘Art Boca Raton’ in March 2018.
I am honored to have been juried into The National Association of Women Artists; and as an exhibiting member of the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida, and the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury, NJ. Many of my paintings have won awards, and are in private and corporate collections throughout the US, Canada and the UK.
